This is a piece of #fawmtronica inspired by the natural sounds of Iberian Water Frogs, which I was absolutely obsessed with during a recent visit to the Azores. I took quite a bit of audio, not sure what I’d do with it.
Well, turns out I did this with it.
I was trying to capture the textures of the frog sounds in the synths, and the mix of order and chaos of the whole sense of them together.
It’s all built in Garageband, no samples other than the underlay of frogs and one standard GB riser/chop set.
I wanted to have some vocal line, but struggled to figure out what do to. So I decided to just use the entire scientific name of the star of the performance, the Iberian Water Frog, or Perez’s frog (Pelophylax perezi).
Which probably makes this the nerdiest thing I’ve ever made. And that’s saying something. #nerdy stuff, this.
