It’s 6:43 in the evening
I don’t know what to do
But stare at myself in the mirror
And practice saying
We’re through.
“Woah, hey, song, where did YOU come from??”
I started to do a 1-hour song challenge, starting at 6:43. While I had lyrics and a tune by about 7:15, this song surprised me when it absolutely INSISTED that it wanted more than that. So I obeyed. It’s 9:18 pm. And I think the song will let me go now. 😉
It’s also a song that is really outside my “regular” style of composition, but I am just letting FAWM muses take control and do whatever they want. I love songs with heavy, simple bass riffs, and I think I’d love to get a real band to help me make this one happen!
(ps… now that some time has passed – this song was when I realized I was going to quit my job. I just didn’t know when.)
It’s 6:43 (Hey Hey Hey, We’re Through)
It’s 6:43 in the evening
I don’t know what to do
But stare at myself in the mirror
And practice saying
We’re through.
How will it be when I see you?
What will it be like that day?
Will the spring sun stream through the window
While I get the courage to say
Hey, there’s nothing else to do.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
It’s 1:45 and I’m tossing
Of course, I’m still awake
Staring out into the darkness
Wondering which path to take
How will it be when I see you?
What will it be like that day?
Will the rain beat hard on the window
While I get the courage to say
Hey, there’s nothing else to do.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
It’s 5:21 and the sunrise
Hasn’t touched my head
Tired and heavy somber
Glad that the sky is red
How will it be when I see you?
What will it be like that day?
Will the leaves collect on the window
While I get the courage to say
Hey, there’s nothing else to do.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
It’s 10:25 and I’m working
The day’s already long
We are polite but it’s pointless,
You don’t know I’m gone.
How will it be when I see you?
What will it be like that day?
Will the snowflakes stick to the window
While I get the courage to say
Hey, there’s nothing else to do.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
How will it be when I see you?
What will it be like that day?
What’s gunna be out the window
When I get the courage to say
Hey, there’s nothing else to do.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
Hey, there’s nothing else to do.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
Hey, hey, hey
we’re through.
